June 15th. With reference to your telegram of the
25th. May relating to Schluter I have suggested to the War Office that for the present no action should be taken on the proposal of
time the General officer Commanding. Meanwhit it seems to me that if conduct described in the General Officer Commanding's telegram of the 26th. May to the War Office is not an offence punishable with imprisonment it ought to be made so. I therefore request that you introduce a bill amending section 6 subsection 2 of the Post Office Ordinance of 1900 so as to make offences against it tiable to at least 12 months imprisonment. In this way the fugitive offenders
Act can be used on future occasions.
